My Journey

I have had many career transitions in my life.

Training to become an end-of-life companion doula will be my fourth.

In many respects, becoming a doula is less of a personal choice but a calling: a strong inner voice that leads you to a vocation.

I heeded my calling in 2021 and have since created three unique types of doula services:

  1. Endings & beginnings related to business.

  2. Pet Bereavement.

  3. Emotional & spiritual support for life transition.

Redefining "End of Life"

The main role of a death doula is to provide the terminally ill - and their family - support, guidance and companionship as they move from diagnosis and end of life care. However, "end of life" can also be defined as "end of life as you know it", which can include life-changing events such as: divorce, loss of a job or business, having a child, emigration and even having to say goodbye to a family pet - my specialist area of interest, as this is a form of disenfranchised grief*,

which is unacknowledged and underestimated.

*{Disenfranchised grief is when your grieving doesn’t fit in with society’s attitude about dealing with death and loss. The lack of support during this grieving process can prolong emotional pain}.

I offer emotional, spiritual and practical support and awareness around the process of loss and grief

that occur in many of life's transitions.

Doula Services Podcast

A podcast interview with Sean O'Connor from the How to Die podcast about my doula journey.

It covers what doulas do, as well as how I have framed my doula services, not only as an end of life companion but also as a business doula transition coach and more importantly

as a pet doula focusing on pet bereavement.
